Moving Sushi is a platform for addressing major issues surrounding the status of marine resources. The Moving Sushi team, of talented young scientists, entrepreneurs, photographers, film-makers and social media specialists, aims to contribute to the global understanding and awareness of our marine resources and to the sustainable use thereof, through promoting networking and collaborative efforts relating to marine conservation, and improving public awareness by gathering and making available scientific information, and by disseminating information openly to relevant management, societal and research bodies. Through a series of cross-boundary marine-based scientific expeditions, Moving Sushi aims to bring together science, novel technologies, society and multiple media platforms, to gather scientific data, develop and improve techniques for surveying biological communities and disseminate high quality data.

WhatSpecies’ goal is to create a bigger awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity by providing the general public with a niche social networking platform on which to keep track of what species they have observed in their lifetime, and to share their observations with others. WhatSpecies further provides its users with the opportunity to help each other identify unknown observations and to share their knowledge and experience of nature with the rest of the community. WhatSpecies is self-funded with additional and more unique functionality to be rolled out in 2015.
