Since 2005 from our first printed monthly publication, Greeners has been continously spreading information on environmental issues until 2011 when we decided to stop using paper and transform into digital media at greenersmagz.com. As a public media, Greeners also develop public campaign, activities and work with “green communities” in Indonesia.
Himpunan Mahasiswa Biologi Universitas Padjadjaran (Himbio Unpad) esthabilised in 1960 as a student organization under Biology Department in Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung. Himbio Unpad focused in provide information and working on pro-enviromental programs cooperating with folks, government and other organizations, together we work to mantaining biodiversity as our resources.
Green Hill Guest House is in Bukit Lawang village (North Sumatra, Indonesia) on the banks of the Bohorok river overlooking Gunung Leuser National Park. It was built by local craftsmen using natural and sustainably sourced materials and is operated with environmentally and eco-friendly principles.
We have a unique approach to jungle trekking and in addition to the standard trails provide a variety of conservation focused jungle trekking options in locations that are seldom visited. All our guides are experienced and professional and strictly follow national park rules. They are also given additional training and education with regard to conservation and sustainable trekking practices
We have a small education centre with an extensive conservation and wildlife library, photos, factsheets, scientific journal articles etc. Our most recent project is an ongoing survey using photographic evidence of the biodiversity in GLNP: to date we have 276 different species…and still counting.
We are trying to celebrate the amazing level of biodiversity here and demonstrate that we have more than just the amazing orangutans. We hope this will promote a more sustainable form of nature based tourism and support a long term future for the communitys in and around the Bukit Lawang area of Gunung Leuser National Park.
