Session 3.

Dear all: In session 1, I gave some information about a GEF project implemented in Cuba, about IAS prevention, control and management in vulnerable ecosystems in Cuba, This project finished at the end of 2017. One of the aim of the project was, the design and elaboration of 42 Management Programs, for 19 species (flora and fauna) in different ecosystems, for thah we elaborated a guide for the structure and content of that programas, applying mainly Control and managements strategies, but we applied also, in some specific areas and for specific species, the eradication strategy. In general, the structure of the programas, was: An introduction on the objectives of the program; A General Diagnostic on the characterization of the working area and main values to protect, current situation of the specie and ecosystems present in the area, impacts observed; biological characteristics of the specie, and gaps on Knowlodgeand the Plan of Actions, identified to implementation through several key programs, as Survellance and Protection; Natural Resources Programs; Research and Monitoring programs;Cmunication and Environmental Education; Capacity Building, and Administration programs. We desingnet, and implemente a Methodological Guide to assess effectivity of management programs.

To assess main Effects from Climate Change and their incidence on IAS  dispersion, we choose six áreas along the country, all of them, important  conservation areas, five of them, relevant Protected Areas, and we applied a working strategy on the assessment of the current situation, research and monitoring of climate variability and establish correlation with observed changes of different IAS, and also, changes on the behaviour on native species, with a wide participation of communities, with very interesting results.
