The Bio-Bridge Initiative

Participation in BBI

Who can participate in BBI?

All Parties to the Convention and its Protocols, relevant organizations, policymakers and scientists are welcome to participate in the Bio-Bridge Initiative. There are two ways in which one can participate in BBI: by requesting for assistance and by providing assistance.

Recipients of assistance

The main BBI beneficiaries are Parties to the Convention and its Protocols. Importantly, activities under BBI promote involvement and engagement of all relevant stakeholders. Priority for assistance is given to developing country Parties, in particular the least developed and small island developing States among them, Parties with economies in transition, as well as indigenous peoples and local communities.

Providers of assistance

Any governments and relevant organizations, including non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, regional organizations, indigenous peoples and local communities, academic institutions, other mechanisms for biodiversity-related TSC and capacity development, development assistance agencies, foundations and funding agencies as well as private sector partners can provide technical assistance including funding for TSC projects and specific BBI activities.
