  Inauguration of “Centre for Biodiversity & Conservation”
The Centre was inaugurated on 2nd February, 2010 by Dr Javid R. Laghari, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad by cutting the ribbon and declared Shah Latif University Botanical Garden and Herbarium as CBC.

  Batool Welfare Trust has been launched a comprehensive campaign to mark "2010 International Year of Biodiversity" In this campaign hundreds of people from all walks of life participated warmly and enthusiastically. The main porpose of this campaign to equip and aware the masses about the importance of Biological Biodiversity. See some of the photos of this event - Read the report.

Lincoln Corner Karachi celebrated International Day of Biodiversity through a speaker programme "Biodiversity is our life" by Pak-US Alumna & environmentalist Ms. Rahat Najam. Total 30 children of LCK-Kids Summer Club participated in this programme.

To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity, Nature Club of Pakistan organized a flower festival-2010 to introduce the beauty of botanical life among youngsters. Students were asked to draw, sketch, photograph and write about botanical life.

The CBC came into being with notification issued by the University authorities on 24 December, 2009 to undertake advance research and studies in the field of biological and environmental aspects. Establishment of CBC at the beginning of 2010 is a landmark in the history of Pakistan, since United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared 2010 as International Year of Biodiversity. The Director of CBC, Dr. Raza Bhatti has been nominated as a Focal Person for IYB by the Higher Education Commission to the Ministry of Environment, Government of Pakistan. This task includes mobilizing and organizing various types of celebrations for the International Year of Biodiversity in all the universities of Pakistan.

“Protection and sustainable use of natural resources by the people; keeping high priority in maintaining the ecological balance in various ecological zones of Pakistan.
