  On the roof of Iran - Mount Damavand (5671 m)
On Thursday 22 July 2010 in the southern path to Mt Damavand the Environment Friends Club from SRTTU team of environment educators represented instructive environment-related posters on a small exhibition. Instructive packages were distributed among mountaineers, posters and banners were mounted. On Friday 23 July 2010 the banner of 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity was raised on the top of Mt. Damavand to celebrate this global issue.

  International Year of Biodiversity in Central Kavir
A gathering for nature lovers in south Kavir National Park was held in order to celebrate the “International Year of Biodiversity”. Attended by 700 environmentalists, the gathering was organized in partnership with Esfahan Climbing Committee in Badroud with “Biodiversity as Essence of Life” as a flagship. The Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) intorduced the year of biodiversity and its importance and the attendants received educational packages about the Asiatic cheetah.

  New Cheetah Emerged
Despite of numerous disappointing news in the world of wildlife conservation; however, there is exciting news of emergence of a new cheetah which plays theater. The cheetah was designed by the ICS Wildlife Theater Group as a part of long-term educational initiatives launched since establishment in 2001. Since last March, 15 volunteers were trained to be ready for upcoming opportunities to spread the cheetah knowledge.

  Conservation Education in Biodiversity Festival
National Festival of Biodiversity was held in Darabad Museum of Nature and Wildlife in Tehran. The festival was held by the museum and some 30 Iranian NGOs attended between 19 and 21 May 2010.

  Caspian Seal Show
Sand Caspian seals show was held to celebrate International Year of Biodiversity in Babolsar, northern Iran. A total of 15 seal statues were constructed during a festival at the sea shore.

We are a group of students establishing Environment Friends Club for the first time in the single teacher training university of Iran. We believe that the simplest way to change our present lifestyle and move toward an environment-friendly life is to teach people about environment. We have aimed the students' eco-literacy and with this massage:
Learn about environment - And teach others!
We are attempting to raise our students' awareness about environment. Among all these activities, this year we have focused on the subject of biodiversity for the celebration of the international year of biodiversity.

Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS)

Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) is a non-governmental, non-profitable organization in order to save the last remains of the Asiatic cheetah as well as other large carnivores, particularly the Persian leopard. Besides grey wolf, brown bear and striped hyena, the Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) is a sophisticated NGO devoted to save the Iranian biodiversity which are normally in conflict with local communities. Meanwhile, the Asiatic cheetah is still the flagship of biodiversity conservation, not for the ICS, but for Iran. The ICS has been established in 2001 (registeration number 13640) and hopes to celebrate its first decade of wildlife conservation soon.

Plan for the Land society is a non-governmental non-profitable organization for the conservation of wildlife and biodiversity in Iran and in the Middle East, through the following activities:


1. Direct conservation field projects for the endangered species.
2. Indirect conservation through promotion of sustainable livelihood in human societies in the surroundings of protected areas.
3. Increasing public awareness on the importance of biodiversity and environmental conservation through educational programs for the residents of big cities; more focused on adolescents and children.
4. Stirring up the innate sense of biophilia, through publication of artworks by nature photographers and illustrators on the beauty and charisma of our adored biodiversity.

Tirgan Cultural and Sports Institute was set up by university students for moderating trip like hiking and mountain climbing in Iran. One of the most important topics for us is teach and educate about environment. In this year, they are focusing on the subject of biodiversity for the celebration of the International Year of Biodiversity.
