DIVERSITAS – Integrating biodiversity science for human well-being
Annual report 2009-10 and contribution to 2010, the International Year of Biodiversity

natureparif: Agence régionale pour la nature et la biodiversité en Ile-de-France
The Île-de-France has a natural and rich history. In total, 10 000 animal species, in which 200 are protected, are identified. The flora is also particularly rich and diversified, since they have nearly 25% of the French flora. The Île-de-France also owns an important proportion of wooded areas. In particular, we can see the presence of many great trees and many thousands of hectares, such as Fontainebleau, Rambouillet or Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Most of them contribute positively to the lifestyle of the French. In such, the prestigious forests of the Île-de-France attract each year nearly 90 million visitors.

What are the main beneficial aspects of biodiversity for man and the society? and What are the new facts which worry the scientists?
The document is also available in french, please click the link (top left corner) to swicth the language.

The Ministry of Energy, Ecology, sustainable development and seas is launching a national communication campaign, which will include an internet portal on activities for the year. Organizations are invited to submit their activities for publicity on the site.
