  LUMONET is the Finnish Clearing-House Mechanism of the Convention on Biological Diversity. It is an Internet-based biodiversity information system mainly about Finland. LUMO is an abbreviation of "luonnon monimuotoisuus", which is Finnish for Nature's Diversity.

22 May 2010 - International Day for Biodiversity
To celebrate the International Day for Biodiversity, scientists gathered to observe wildlife found in the Toololahti Park. Some scientists guided families through the park pointing out the various species they passed along the way. Other scientists observed and recorded the number of species they could find in the area over a 24 hour period. Some indicators that the wildlife in the park is doing well, was the identification of numerous trout in the lake. By the end of the day the scientists had identified more 938 plant and animal species. Read more.
