Regional Workshops in Qingdao, 21-24 May 2014
The Regional Workshop for East, South and South-East Asia on Cities and Biodiversity and the Regional Workshop for East, South and South-East Asia on South-South Cooperation was held from 21 to 24 May 2014 in the city of Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. The workshops was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) launched the logo of China's National Committee for the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity
Also, MEP announced the vote result of one aquatic species for each of the ten major rivers in China. The process took almost one year and 250,000 people voted online. In the process many educational and communication activities were organized, raising the awareness of the threats to aquatic species in China particularly water pollution, ecological damage caused by hydropower projects and climate change.
Other activities took place in other parts of China. |
