Regional Consultations and Capacity Building Workshops on REDD-plus, including on relevant Biodiversity Safeguards:

AFRICA – Upcoming meeting: The 'Africa Regional Consultation and Capacity Building Workshop on REDD-plus, including on relevant biodiversity safeguards', will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 20 to 23 September 2011. This workshop is convened by the Secretariat of the CBD, in collaboration with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), and with the generous financial support of the governments of Norway and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as the UN-REDD Programme. LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN – Final report available: The 'Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Consultation and Capacity Building Workshop on REDD-plus, including on relevant biodiversity safeguards', was held in Quito, Ecuador, from 5 to 8 July 2011. In conjunction with the launch of REDDy-Set-Grow: Part II - Recommendations for International Climate Change Negotiators, UNEP Finance Initiative is pleased to invite you to join a webinar. UN-REDD Programme Social and Environmental Principles and Criteria
The UN-REDD Programme is working with partners and REDD-plus countries to develop tools and guidance to enhance the multiple benefits of, and reduce risks from REDD-plus. As part of this work, a set of Social and Environmental Principles and Criteria are being developed which consists of broad principles within which more detailed criteria describe important issues to be considered in developing REDD-plus programmes. New REDD Countries Database on the REDD Desk
The Global Canopy Programme and Forum on Readiness for REDD are pleased to announce the launch of the new REDD Countries Database on the REDD Desk (http://www.theredddesk.org/countries). The REDD Countries Database has been produced by an international team of REDD experts and summarises key information across a range of areas including policies, plans, laws, statistics, activities and financing. The launch comprises three pilot countries: Brazil, Cameroon and Vietnam; with Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Tanzania and Indonesia coming soon.
