Discussion Forum on the Preparation of the Long-Term Strategic Framework for Capacity Development to Support Implementation of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (25 May - 1 June 2020)

The Forum is organized, pursuant to COP decisions XIII/23 and 14/24, to offer participants an opportunity to:

  1. Provide additional input on the draft elements of the long-term strategic framework and share views on how it could be aligned with the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;
  2. Share views and suggestions on how capacity development in general could be improved in support of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework;
  3. Raise other relevant issues that were not addressed during the Thematic Consultation on Capacity-Building and Technical and Scientific Cooperation held in Rome, Italy, from 1 to 2 March 2020.

Participation in the Forum

Participation in the Forum is open to Parties to the Convention and its Protocols, other governments, relevant organizations and stakeholders, including indigenous peoples and local communities, youth and women, and other biodiversity-related conventions actively involved in capacity development efforts.

By registering to take part in the Forum, participants have expressly authorized the Secretariat to summarize and disseminate all or part of their postings to the Forum as part of any document(s) that may be subsequently prepared by the Secretariat. The information collected and synthesized will not be attributed to any specific person.

Participants are invited to:

  1. Briefly introduce themselves when posting first message (name, country and institutional affiliation);
  2. Respond to the thread(s) started by the moderator;
  3. Subscribe to the thread(s) to follow and receive notifications;
  4. Keep messages brief, concise and relevant to the topic or question being discussed;
  5. Be respectful of others’ viewpoints.
