Sudan's Final Report for the International Year of Biodiversity 2010
The Sudanese activities in the Observance of the International Year of Biological Diversity
Sudan has had many events during the year to commemorate the International Year of Biodiversity 2010.
- During the whole year, workshops, activities and university lectures were organized to contribute to the International Year of Biodiversity.
- In May 2010, a “Biodiversity Forum” was held in the country. The Forum targeted the media as well as international, regional and local organizations. The principal aim of this forum was to inform people about the meaning and the importance of biodiversity as well as its current status in the world.
- During the months of June and July 2010, an exhibition on biodiversity was held in the capital, Khartoum. The goal of this exhibition was to enhance and promote the importance of biodiversity. Also, ministries, institutions and non-governmental organizations were encouraged to participate and contribute to the cause.
- In September, the Ministry and the National Council of Environment held regular media forums to elaborate on issues concerning biodiversity.
