Nepal's Final Report for the International Year of Biodiversity 2010
A high level action committee under the auspices of the National Biodiversity Coordination Committee of Nepal has been formed to celebrate this year as the International Year of Biodiversity. Several programmes will be organised during the year 2010, some of them include an international conference on biodiversity and climate change in the Himalayas, a national conference on traditional medicine and medical practitioners, awareness campaigns involving school children, friends of zoo, eco-clubs, guest speeches in the college and universities, capacity building on biodiversity documentation, national biodiversity fare, establishment of a gene bank, etc. Over 50 different stakeholders including those working in biodiversity and climate change, civil society, local community groups, academia, government and non-government organisations and private sectors are involved in organising International Year of Biodiversity activities.
We encourage everyone to engage in biodiversity conservation this year ! and hope to learn more from many countries.

The International Center for Integrated Mountain Development, ICIMOD, is a regional intergovernmental learning and knowledge sharing centre serving the eight regional member countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayas – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan – and based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The mission of the center is to enable and facilitate the equitable and sustainable well-being of the people of the Hindu Kush-Himalayas by supporting sustainable mountain development through active regional cooperation. ICIMOD, therefore, aims to assist mountain people to understand global environmental and socio-economic changes, adapt to them, and make the most of new opportunities, while addressing upstream-downstream issues.

Team for Nature and Wildlife (TNW) is a youth led environmental organization working for the creation of an eco-friendly and sustainable community by educating, inspiring and empowering the community especially youth. Since its inception in 2007, TNW has been working to generate awareness on a wide range of critical environmental issues amongst children and urban and rural community people through highly creative, interactive and “infotainment”-based media such as theatre shows, talk shows, eco-competitions, green discussion, and a youth environmental summit. TNW has also been working in the green development of the rural communities.
