The Government of the Union of Myanmar celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May.

The National Commission for Environmental Affairs (NCEA) marked the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity during first week of April in Nay Pyi Taw. The national plan to celebrate the IYB includes:

  1. Speech to be made by the Chairman of NCEA and Ministry of Forestry
  2. Video Show
  3. Paper reading sessions
  4. Exhibition (National Parks, Protected Areas)

The International Center for Integrated Mountain Development, ICIMOD, is a regional intergovernmental learning and knowledge sharing centre serving the eight regional member countries of the Hindu Kush Himalayas – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan – and based in Kathmandu, Nepal. The mission of the center is to enable and facilitate the equitable and sustainable well-being of the people of the Hindu Kush-Himalayas by supporting sustainable mountain development through active regional cooperation.
