The Minister of Environment and Nature Protection’s message on the occasion of the celebrations for the International Year of Biodiversity (in French). Activities to highlight the International Year of Biodiversity (in French).

  International Day for Biodiversity
On 4 June, Benin held a day long celebration in the Lama Forest. To begin the day, there were speeches made by local officials. There was also a theatre production and folkloric dancing and singing. Later, many individuals partook in the planting of several trees. The participants then went on a trek through the Lama Forest. The variety of the flora and fauna were pointed as the visitors passed. The visitors had a chance to touch and examine some of the fascinating species found in the forest. Lastly, the participants visited local stands to see what products can be made and cultivated from the forest which helps with the region’s local economy. More information. Pictures
